New Jersey school bus collision kills student, teacher

"I heard a scraping noise and then the bus tilted over and a lot of people were screaming", Theo Ancevski told The Post outside Morristown Medical Center.

The front end of the dump truck involved in the crash was mangled, and the condition of the truck driver wasn't known. School bus crashes killed 902 people in other vehicles over that span. Some of the victims crawled out of the emergency exit in the back and an escape hatch on the roof. She said those two buses made it to Waterloo Village, but they were told by teachers and chaperones about a half hour later that they had to return to school because of bad weather.

"The children were all over, outside", said Morris County Office Of Emergency Management Director Jeff Paul. The undercarriage, chassis and tires also were separated from the body of the bus, which was on its side.

Faltings said the front of the dump truck appeared to have been sheared off and the school bus was "ripped off its frame" after hitting a guard rail and flipping over.
