OnePlus 6 launched: features Snapdragon 845, OIS-enabled camera, glass-back

The phone's marquee feature is, without a doubt, its 6.28-inch bezel-less display with iPhone X-style display notch.

We've got a OnePlus 6 hands-on review detailing what's new, including a Snapdragon 845 processor, dual rear cameras and an expansive 6.28-inch notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Storage stands at 64GB for the base model, but you can also have it with 128 or 256GB built in.

The OnePlus 6 is a flagship smartphone, so it comes with beefy hardware which is what was expected from it. However, OnePlus has switched out the metal body with the glass-on-metal design that is used in modern flagship smartphones, with Gorilla Glass 5 protecting both the front and back of the OnePlus 6. You can buy the "limited edition" Silk White with 128GB on June the 5th. However, the mid-year facelift that has become customary with OnePlus flagships might cause doubts in the buyer's mind. Glass allows better for better transmission of radio waves.

The latest Android 8.1 runs on the OnePlus 6, and while it does have a stock look and feel to it, there are quite a few extras that have been thrown in there.

As is usually the case with OnePlus phones, the OnePlus 6 is priced rather competitively. The device follows last year's OnePlus 5 and 5T which proved to be two of 2017's best amongst reviewers.

The battery offers 5 hours of listening with just 10 minutes of charging. Much like the OnePlus 5T, the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back too.

On the connectivity front, the OnePlus 6 also includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0, with support for Qualcomm's aptX and aptX HD wireless audio codecs. That said, the OnePlus 6 also comes with some AI-based features as well as Super Slo-Mo video recording. On top of that, the OnePlus 6 is also water-resistant, but OnePlus did not give the phone any specific IP rating.

Though its a little early to form a final verdict about the OnePlus 6, going by all the information we have so far, the device will be a definite generational leap in comparison to the OnePlus 5 or even the OnePlus 5T.

The dual camera setup at the back is a combination of one 16 MP and one 20 MP camera, and, it comes with Optical Image Stabilization. With an f/1.7 aperture, the 16MP main camera has been bolstered by a 19 percent larger sensor and OIS for outstanding performance in a range of lighting conditions.

For selfies, the smartphone offers a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and EIS. The company is adding a variety of bokeh effects to portrait mode, allowing users to add hearts and stars to their portrait photos. You can also bet that there's an AI software for the selfie snapper, particularly in creathing a portrait mode without needing a secondary camera. There is also slow motion video capture, which is limited to 480fps at 720p, and 240fps at 1080p.

With up to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, the OnePlus 6 effortlessly switches between multiple apps running at the same time without a single second of lag, allowing users to multitask easily.
