Azadi not possible, you can't fight Army: Gen Rawat

"And we are hopeful that people will soon realize that all this is futile and start thinking differently", Rawat said. "Just wait and watch".

The provincial assembly of Pakistan's Punjab province on Fridaycondemned the statement of Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Kashmir.

"Don't get carried away unnecessarily".

"I want to tell Kashmiri youth that Azaadi isn't possible". It won't happen. Why are you picking up weapons? We will always fight those who seek Azadi, those who want to secede.

Azaadi "is not going to happen, never" General Rawat told a national daily in some of his strongest comments on the volatile situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Perhaps, General should refresh his knowledge on situations of conflicts in the world and also refresh his knowledge on the military history of India, Soz said, adding: "It is long back that I had reminded the General to study minutely Field Marshall Cariappa's approach to military operations in situations of conflict".

Rawat further said that he doesn't attach much importance to the number of militants who are killed in encounters with the Army. Army chiefs come and go. "Look at Syria and Pakistan". He asserted that the Kashmir conflict "is a political problem and can be addressed politically". He said that army never enjoyed such thing but he added that if they fight with us then the army will fight with all force.

While asking the freedom fighters to surrender and coming out of hiding, he said unless they do so Kashmiris will die.

The High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir in a statement denounced the remarks of the Indian Army Chief. He concluded that all these things are useless and they can't fight with Indian Army. Bipin Rawat awhile expressing concern over youth picking the gun, stressed that those who are telling boys that this path will bring Azadi, are misleading them. Emphasising that they can not fight the Indian Army, Bipin Rawat stated that they are being misled in the name of Azadi. "Those in uniform and opposing the ceasefire are in fact the only beneficiaries of death and destruction for more than one reasons", he alleged.
