Buhari returns to Abuja from Washington DC

The former Head of State's warning is coming at a time the Senate was considering an impeachment motion against President Muhammadu Buhari over the purchase of $496 million Tucano aircraft from the United States, without legislative approval.

A statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan, its National Publicity Secretary in Abuja on Thursday advised the Presidency to end their official secrecy and come clear on the reasons for President Buhari's alleged "technical stopover" in London.

The president's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina had earlier today dismissed social and traditional media reports on the whereabouts of the president, who had a technical stopover in London.

Trump is seen grinning next to Buhari as the Nigerian leader signs an unknown agreement with a smile.

He said the "big" president jet is faulty and is now undergoing repairs, while the one he is using is limited in capacity.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the presidential aircraft carrying the president and some members of his entourage landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 10.35pm. It has been taken for major repairs. Technical stopover is that the plane stops at a point, refuel, do some checks and then proceed on the journey.

When contacted on the matter, Shehu, who was on Buhari's delegation to U.S. said, "They had a technical stopover in London".

"It is a routine thing".

"Indeed, Nigerians are anxious about the signal being sent out by this penchant for secret itinerary, particularly, given the poor reputation and governance transparency issues confronting our country in the Buhari administration". But you don't need to push it to the edge.

Our correspondent however learnt that Buhari's scheduled trip to his hometown, Daura in Katsina State might have been cancelled due to the delay in his arrival back in the country.

He noted that the procedure was normal and that the President was already on his way back to Nigeria.
